I would like you to help me raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Research Trust by sponsoring me to complete a solo cycle tour through the heart of Norway. The reason I have chosen this charity above all worthy others is because my Grandmother has Alzheimer’s. This is a truly terrible disease that causes much suffering and distress for everyone involved. There are around 700,000 people in the UK with dementia, and this figure is predicted to double within a generation. Despite this Alzheimer’s research is chronically under-funded in the UK. My challenge will be to raise as much money as I can for the Alzheimer’s Research Trust by cycling a mountainous 800 mile route, which will begin in Lillehammer on the 18th June, 2008. The route will take me north to Roros and Trondheim before turning south towards Flam via the fjords and the formidable “Trollstigen” road, which has a maximum gradient of 1:12. I hope to arrive in Flam on Sunday 29th June. The Alzheimer’s Research Trust is the UK’s leading research charity for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. They are dedicated to funding scientific studies to find ways to treat, cure or prevent Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, Lewes body disease and fronto-temporal dementia. The charity does not receive any government funding and relies on voluntary donations to fund it’s crucial research. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Research Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support. Thanks, Allan.
