Stroke Association - London to Paris Bike Ride · 27 February 2009

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I thought I'd cycle London to Paris in aid of Stroke, after my mum suffered a TIA (mini stroke) 3 years ago.

My mum was 'lucky' it has had a limited effect on her life, but has impacted on her self confidence in everything from simple tasks to looking after her grandchildren.

Unfortunately I know others who have suffered a huge change, where they now have to cope with losing their independence, their job and have to rely on others in order to overcome their limitations and disability.

Since deciding to do this trip my Dad has suffered heart problems and has been put on mediciation to reduce his risk of stroke. He is now anxious for the future and his loss of confidence shows in his reluctance to plan ahead or go too far from home.

So, this trip is for both of them.. to show them my support and give something positive back to a great charity that support victims and their families.

The trip is ONLY 234 miles!!..in 3 days:
Day One: London to Portsmouth - 71 miles - 1200m Ascent
Day Two: Ouistreham to Bernay - 63 miles - 630m Ascent
Day Three: Bernay to Paris - 100 miles - 1035m Ascent

I am meeting all my own costs of the trip, so every penny you donate goes direct to the charity.

I would really appreciate any support you can give me and please forward to any friends that may be interested in donating if they have been affected or had to call on the support of the Stroke Association.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
