My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I'm running for MEDICS which is a very worthy charity and one I hope none of us ever see a need to call upon their services. That said It's certainly reassuring to know that such services exist and so every penny I can help raise to continue their great work can only be a good thing for us all.

Race wise: I'm targeting (once again) a sub 4 hour marathon as I got very close to it in Edinburgh last year with 4h and 5 mins.  But as this is my 3rd London Marathon I do know what to expect and will be keen to ensure I don't get too caught up in the "carnival" atmosphere that London always puts on....but then again if have to put a PB on the back-burner because of the sheer mass of people and just enjoy the 2012 vibe then so be it.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

You can also text '70070' with the code "PLUM73" followed by the amount you would like to donate (i.e. PLUM73 £1 will donate a pound!) - so it couldn't be easier.

Please dig deep for me as I will be digging deep for MEDICS as I endeavour to NOT hit the wall.  Literally, every penny helps.

My updates 3

is starting to collect up my pledges. looks like I've blown the target!! amazing thank you everybody who has sponsored me. suddenly who cares about 58 seconds. :)

Thank you all for your donations and support in getting me across the line. I'm still totting up the final fundraising amount but I'm sure I'll be above that magic £1000 by the time I've finished counting up.

So close yet no cigar. I finished on Sunday in 4 hours and 58 seconds. yes just 59 secs away from a sub-4 marathon. That said, with a 5 minute PB compared to my Edinburgh time in 2011 and 20 minutes better than London in 2009 I cannot be too disapppointed.
