Alpe d'Huez Half Ironman · 17 January 2009

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

I always like a challenge and when this race was described to me it sounded perfect!  Not only is it longer than a half, it is in the Alps and the run is at altitude, check out http://www.alpetriathlon.com/, to make things tougher I'm then doing London Olympic distance after 3 days, and Gower sprint 6 days after that before the 2nd Half, 2 weeks later in Ireland (http://www.eireman.org/home?q=node/96) I then have 3 weeks to recover before the Lost Sheep Half Ironman in Ireland, in a new disguise! (http://www.corktri.com/wordpress/?page_id=20), before a warm down run in the Great North a week later! If that isn't tough enough, I'm also a stone and a half heavier than I was in this pic, which should be fun on the hills!  Hopefully I will survive all of this and you will think my effort and my chosen charity is worth sponsoring me.  For those of you who know Paula Craig, it is the charity that helped her back to taking part in triathlon in a hand-bike and wheelchair following the accident that paralysed her, if you want to know more just ask me.   Thanks for visiting my fundraising page, perhaps I'll see you at one of the above races?
