Story

LIVE  *  LAUGH  *  LOVE

UPDATE ON OUR WALK BELOW - A BIG thank you to everyone who has donated money and it is still coming in!

We are raising funds for the SDBTT as a tribute of love to Amanda Beach our beautiful daughter, wife, sister, auntie and a very good friend to many, who lost her courageous 12 year battle against a devastating brain tumour on the 26th September 2010. Amanda faced her illness with dignity, courage and a determination to enjoy every minute of her life. Her legacy to us is to follow her example, live life to the full, have fun and remember that love is our greatest gift.

‘Amanda’s Walk’

From Sunday 8th May to Wednesday 11th May 2011 Amanda’s family walked the 67 mile (which actually turned out to be over 75 miles due to diversions) around the rapidly eroding coastal path on the Isle of Wight.

We started at Shalfleet on day 1 and finished at Freshwater Bay covering a very respectable 17.5 miles.

Day 2 we headed up and along the western side of the (very windy) island improving on our previous days mileage with 18.2 miles under our belts.

Legs and feet beginning to ache rather alot on day 3 we crossed over the halfway point around this very beautiful island clocking up a record 22 miles!!

Day 4 we were on the home straight, weary, tired but with our darling Amanda in our thoughts we crossed the finish line at 5pm after completing another highly respectable 18 miles.

All the money  we have raised goes to into The Amanda Beach Fund - Friends of the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust which has been set up in tribute to our darling Amanda.

SDBTT are the UK’s leading charity dedicated to brain tumour research and providing patient information and support. www.braintumourtrust.org
