******************************************************************************************* WRITTEN 15th APRIL 2008: I completed my first marathon on 13th April 2008 in 3:12, and although it was very tough, I was very pleased with the time and to be able to raise well over £4,000 is fantastic. Thanks so much for all your support. The whole experience, and particularly the day yesterday, was amazing. It is certainly a day to remember and a huge thankyou to everyone who braved the rain to come and cheer me on. Not wanting to turn this into an oscar speech, but I have to thank my lovely husband, my three beautiful children and my amazing mother for putting up with me over the last four months obsessing about this. You'll be glad to know it's over, well at least for another year! Any additional donations still gratefully accepted. ****************************************************************************************** WRITTEN 9th APRIL 2008:With only 5 days to go, I thought I'd send one last note prior to the London Marathon to update everyone who has sponsored me on my fundraising and training progress, and to maybe convince a few others that haven't yet sponsored me, to do so. To date I have raised almost £3,800 thanks to everyone's generosity. Part of this total was also raised through a Marathon Mufti which myself and two other mums organised at our local school and raised a fantastic £520. I am really pleased with the amount I've raised and I have now got a lot better at asking people to sponsor me without feeling awkward. So I'm going to go for one last push as I know there will be people out there who have just forgotten. So reasons to sponsor me: * Sense is a great charity, changing the lives of children and adults with hearing and visual disabilities. * I have sacrificed my turn for a lie in at the weekends over the last few months so as I can get up in the dark and freezing cold to go and run up to 22 miles. * I am about to endure pain that many liken to child birth, which I can't believe for a moment, but scary nonetheless. * If you're still not convinced then I'm going to do a shameless impersonation of David Cameron and ask you to look at the lovely picture of my youngest, Sam, on my website wearing his new glasses in an attempt to help his visual problems. Thank you to you all and I'll be thinking of your support when the going gets tough. ******************************************************************************************* WRITTEN 25TH JANUARY 2008: Thankyou very much for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I am currently in full training for my first marathon, the Flora London Marathon. My target time is under 3:20 but it will be a huge achievement for me just to finish! I am running the marathon for the charity Sense which helps adults and children with visual and hearing impairments. The reason I have chosen this charity is because our third child, Sam, has global development delay and although we have no genetic or medical medical explanation, we do know that he has visual and hearing impairments. Sam has many ongoing therapies, medical investigations and operations and we receive help and advice from a number of charities, all of which help make our life a lot easier. Sense is a great national charity that helps make people's lives with these disabilities an awful lot easier. The marathon is a great opportunity to use my love of running to help raise money for this worthy cause. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sense - National Deafblind and Rubella Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Please help me to help others and many thanks for your support. ******************************************************************************************
