Story

Hello and welcome to my fundraising page.

The more eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the event relating to this fundraising page is shown as 'Flora London Marathon 2008' which has already taken place.  Sadly it took place without me, as whilst running the Dover Half-Marathon in February '08 I suffered a stress fracture of the third metatarsal of my right foot at the five mile point.  'Not good' you may think, but then, thinking it was cramp, I completed the race, by which time the stress fracture had become a triple fracture.  I have to say thank you to Flora London Marathon and Retail Trust who agreed to hold my place over to the 2009 Flora London Marathon.  Unfortunately Justgiving.com are not able to change the event that pages are linked to, so I had the choice of starting a new page, or extending the date of this one to cover the 2009 event, so I have chosen the latter.  This means that everyone can see those who have already offered their support through their donations, and all who wish to support me can join the party!  So, now on to the fundraising bit.

I am running to raise money for Retail Trust.  As you may know I have worked in the retail industry in many guises all my life - please help me to raise as much as possible for this very worthy cause.

In return for your donation I pledge to continue training in the wet and the cold, possibly even the snow, sacrificing toenails and boozy evenings in front of the fire as I go.  You are welcome to join me if you're equally mad (and happy to run between 10 and 20 miles in driving rain) , or you can simply add a donation and feel comfortable that you've done your bit!

In preparation for the 'big day' I have been training with Maidstone Harriers following my entry in the 2007 Maidstone Half Marathon, and on December 14th 2008 I successfully completed the Hastings Centenary Marathon!  Once I have decided which other events I will be competing in as part of my training for London 2009 I will post them on here.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Retail Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

PS - I'm not doing a Minnie Mouse impression in my photo, those are my headphones!

UPDATE - I successfully completed the Paddock Wood Half Marathon on Sunday in final preparation for the big day.  Also completed the Folkestone 10 Miler on Good Friday. Not long to go now - come on you lot get donating!

One day to go!  Spending it in bed watching telly.  Wish me luck!

FINAL UPDATE:  I did it!  A glance at the photo above will give you some idea of why it took me 5:19 to get to the finish - that and the heat!  Thanks to everyone who supported me, and most importantly thanks for supporting the Retail Trust.  Over £2000 raised.  Roll on next year...
