Story
A little bit of information for you.....
One of our beautiful twins, Milo, developed Hydrocephalus when he was a couple of weeks old. (This is simply the "posh" term for water on the brain!) He had an operation at the tender age of 4 weeks (still a premature baby then!) and so it all began.
Milo has had repeated illness, investigations, surgery, and has battled the odds to survive - he has just endured a month in hospital and has faced numerous operations. He is a true star. (obviously, due to the fact he appeared in series 2 of Downton Abbey - he is LITERALLY a star!)
Milo has received the MOST incredible care at the Children's Neurosurgical Unit, at Southampton General Hospital on SO many occasions, The Nurses on the ward are a credit to the nursing profession, whilst the surgical team have saved Milo's life - repeatedly.
Having just spent the last month on the ward, it has really hit me how unsupported the unit is within the Hospital.
They are desperate to raise money for new books, DVD's, portable DVD players, stocking up the bravery cupboard (essential!) and other activities for a range of learning abilities. (They are very tight on space so raising money allows the unit to purchase ward-specific items.)
Milo spent 2 weeks cot-bound with an external drain - very challenging times!
I am planning to organise a range of fundraising activities, but want to get the ball rolling with this page...
So please.....DIG DEEP for an amazing surgical unit.
