Plymouth Half Marathon · 12 January 2006

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hey.....It's me again!

Following on from the success of my fundraising page last year (for the 26th Adidas Dublin City Marathon 2005, raising £707.56 for The Alzheimers Society), I've decided to do it again!

I have confirmed places in both the Great West Run (Sunday 30th April 2006) and the Plymouth Half Marathon (Sunday 28th May 2006), and, as always, I will be raising awareness (and hopefully MONEY!) for The Alzheimers Society.

If you would like to help me by donating thorugh this website, please be assured that it is simple, fast and totally secure.

It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Alzheimers Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, THE GOVERNMENT have committed to donating an extra 28% in tax, that will be added directly to your donation at no cost to you.

Now that's got to be reason enough!!!

So please, please, please sponsor me now!  Anything and everything from £1 to £100 really will be greatly appreciated!

On behalf of myself, my Grandad, and The Alzheimers Society, many thanks for your support and good wishes.

TRAINING DIARY

13/01/06

Tonight, I had to run on the treadmill at my gym (The Devonshire Health & Racquet Club), trying not to laugh or trip over my own feet, while the photographer from The Evening Herald took pictures of me from various angles in my charity vest!  (Full page story printed on Monday 16th January 2006!)

02/02/06

Ran with The Tamar Trotters tonight, had a great time, and will hopefully be joining them on a more regular basis when i get to the front of the waiting list!

19/03/06

Plympton Mad March Hare! I completed the 10km (6 mile) course in 63 minutes... not bad going for a 200m sprinter!

02/04/06

After a two month wait and many boring solo runs, i have finally made it into the ranks of the Tamar Trotters!  Now training as part of  the 10 1/2 minute mile group every Tuesday & Thursday evening around the streets & country lanes of Saltash.

30/04/06  The Great West Run - My First Half Marathon!

13.1 miles aound the city streets of Exeter.  With beautiful views, great local support (and free Jelly Babies!), and other Trotters for company, this run was hard work but extremely rewarding.  2 1/2 hours and a really pretty meadal depicting the cathedral.

28/05/06 The Plymouth Half Marathon - The Big One!

13.1 miles around the historic city of Plymouth, even better views than Exeter (I love my home town!).  Slightly warm day - so even i was surprised with my time.... 2:16!  I can't believe it, this amazing experience has given me the Half-Marathon bug!!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!   Stay tuned for my next challenge!........
