Amelie's Fund for CLIC Sargent

Amelie's fund donation page · 27 August 2019
On the 20th of June 2019 our lives were turned upside down when our middle child Amelie was diagnosed with cancer at the tender age of 6. After an emergency blood transfusion that night at Luton and Dunstable Hospital she was rushed to Addenbrookes in Cambridge where she spent the first 2 weeks of what is to be a hard fought two-and-a-half-year battle with childhood cancer.
The impact of cancer to a family is not only physical and emotional but also financial, research shows parents spend an average of £600 more every month when their child has cancer. This is usually spent on commuting to and from hospital, adjustments to the home, loss of earnings of a parent and additional support or childcare for siblings. CLIC Sargent provides day-to-day support for each child, young person and family, from information and guidance, to clinical and specialist play care. The charity also tries to help where possible with legal and financial advice to ease the burden families feel.
CLIC Sargent currently issue a one off £170 grant to families who have had a child recently diagnosed to help with the immediate travel costs.
Our family have made it our mission to raise £11,900 for the charity, this would provide 70 families with the travel grant which is the same number of children diagnosed with cancer in the Bedfordshire area.
Please give generously - thank you for all of your support.
