From hearing the athaan to listening to Quranic recitation- these are all things most of us are guilty of taking for granted. Working with members of the deaf community has opened my mind to how difficult it can be for them to access the deen.
We are attempting the Deaf Run for those of our ummah who are hard of hearing or deaf and are therefore limited in the opportunities they may have in terms of accessing the deen.
‘All prophets were sent to mankind speaking the language of the people they were sent to. As inheritors of the final prophetic legacy, it is of upmost importance the message can be accessed by all spectrums of society. Making Islam accessible in sign language is a step towards us fulfilling this duty and passing on the Prophetic inheritance.’
