****UPDATE****

Well, it's all done and dusted for another year.  It was a great day, with the first half or so of the run largely submerged, keeping us cool as the sun broke through the cloud for the second half and the cycle.  Particularly well done to George, Roland and Mike, who came second in the Mountain Rescue Team category. As of the end of Monday, stairs are less of a challenge for aching muscles and some of us are even able to walk in a straight line again.  Roll on next year, plans
are already afoot to shave a few minutes off the individual times!

Thanks again to everyone who donated and helped raise such a healthy total for the charities that benefit.  If you missed out, then don't worry, you can still donate even though the event itself is over...the page will be open until July 31st.

*******************

On June 20th*, Aberdeen Mountain Rescue will have two teams competing (or at least participating!) in the Highland Cross.  This page is for anyone who would like to sponsor either of the teams (we will split the money between them).

The Highland Cross is a charity duathlon from west to east across Scotland.  The route runs from Kintail to Beauly and involves 20 miles of offroad running followed by a 30 mile road cycle.  All sponsorship goes directly to the local charities - team entry fees and the organisation/admin costs are kept separate.  Brian, George, Malcolm, Mike, Neil and Roland appreciate your support - don't forget to leave us a few words of wisdom in the comments!

www.highlandcross.co.uk is the homepage for the Highland Cross and gives full details of the charities that benefit.

I think that shoe choice is going to be critical....I'm favouring the idea of slip ons, because I doubt I'll be able to bend my legs enough by transition to untie my laces! - Mike

I hate running and I loathe road biking, why am I doing this? - Brian

I’m the sensible one in the team, I have not done this before
- Roland

Justgiving does take a small cut of the transaction, but if you're a UK taxpayer, the fee is far less than gift aid, so the charities should get more than you actually sponsor.  Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Highland Cross gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

* Previous references to June 21st were predicting Brian's finish date!
