Story

I am sorry to tell you that Maurice "dis-engaged" from his adversary around dawn on 16th March. The Around Britain trip is not happening but the family are doing all sorts of things to raise money. Details can be found at the AMSAB website here - latest is a childrend's used clothes sale near Alton.

Here is his original message - Stay Alive - Richard.

Hi All!

As many of you may know I have been having treatment for a cancer over the last year or so and have decided to put something back by raising money with a "Hare Brained Scheme" - Sailing around Britain in my motor-sailer "Senitoa" - In fact "Senitoa Around Britain" - it does what is says on the tin!

I was in the Navy from when I was 16 and developed a love of sailing which is now my "Albatros" - only joking - so I know how much fun and value it can be which is why I am supporting the MacArthur Trust which helps young cancer sufferers get a taste of the sea and sailing. I am also supporting the the X-ray Department of North Hampshire Hospital who have done wonderful work during my treatment and the MacArthur Trust  have agreed to send them half of all donations collected on-line here. You can find out what the trust does here:

http://www.ellenmacarthurtrust.org/

We have raised lots off-line as well; at an 80s disco, the Surrey Hash House Harriers Christmas Luck Dip, and a number of other events. Also some kind folk have donated directly.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please donate.

About the charity

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust inspires young people aged 8-24 to believe in a brighter future living through and beyond cancer. For many young people simply picking up where they left off before their diagnosis just isn’t possible. So, when treatment ends the Trust’s work begins.
