Thanks so much for the donations! I swam for 6hrs 20 mins and covered 9 nautical miles, in just my swimming hat, costume and goggles. However, I was unable to reach Weston-Super-Mare. I was swimming hard but moving backwards due to the strong currents.
This swim is to raise money for the White Ribbon Alliance, an international charity dedicated to making childbirth safer across the globe. In the Western world women have access to hospitals, medication and trained health care workers during pregnancy and childbirth. So many women across the globe are denied access to even basic health care and as a result one woman a minute dies in the world during pregnancy and childbirth. In some countries a woman is more likely to die in childbirth than go to school. There is so much we take for granted in the UK that our sisters across the world are not fortunate enough to have, and with financial assistance we can make a difference and save the lives of women and babies across the world.
