Story

After a boozy night in Brighton back in May 2011, I decided to put my name down for the Brighton Marathon the following year. Little did I know what a daunting task this would be...

I am now only a few months away from the big run on 15th April and my training isn't going too well. For someone who hasn't really done much running I have found it quite difficult to motivate myself. As many of you know, I am not a morning person, so the thought of going for a jog at the crack of dawn is not a welcoming prospect. In spite of all this, it has made all the difference running for a cause, as I know that the money I raise will really help people who need it the most. So please give all you can to this brilliant charity. The more I raise, the more I want to train!

I chose to run for Médecins Sans Frontières MSF (Doctors Without Borders) as it is a charity whose work I really admire. They are an independent humanitarian medical aid organisation who are committed to providing medical aid where it is most needed, regardless of race, religion, politics or gender and also to raising awareness to the plight of the people they help.

We are all so incredibly lucky to live how we do and it is often easy to take this for granted. There are millions of people worldwide who don't have the luxury of free health care or clean running water. Every morning people wake up to the sound of gunfire or starving families to feed. Natural disasters and war affect people the world over and Médecins Sans Frontières offer invaluable aid in these countries. They put their lives at risk to help those who most need it and I am honoured to run for a charity that performs such amazing work. I just hope that you can all dig deep into your pockets and donate whatever you can to this cause.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
