BUPA Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

Zoe's Place is a home from home for babies/infants who have life limiting and life threatening conditions. Zoe's Place offers palliative, specialist respite, and end of life care for infants from birth to five years old. We receive very little funding and therefore rely on donations/fundraising.

Story

I did it!   2 hrs 46 mins.  What a day!  Thanks for all your support and sponsor money.  Ran until 10 or 11 miles and then walked a tiny bit and went on to run the rest.  Felt amazing to finish!   x.

A HUGE THANKYOU TO EVERYONE ON THE HEWETT PLATFORM.  WHAT A GREAT SURPRISE.  THAT WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE TO TOTAL FOR ZOE'S PLACE.  X.

Thanks Sally.  Your donation is much appreciated. x.

Danni, thank you!  I will miss you so much on the big day but understand why you can't run. Got to look after that bump.  Looking forward to some small jogs with you after Sunday.  x.

Hi everyone,

It might be a long time since I last saw you so thanks very much for visiting my fundraising page.

You might be shocked to hear that I am soon to run a half marathon!  Indeed, I have never been known for my athletic or sporting exploits.  I am pleased to say that I have found running to be a great way of keeping fit and chilling out.  Danni (my running partner) and I have gradually increased our mileage in the past year.  We started very small (less than a mile) just under a year ago and have now managed 7 or 8 miles without much of a problem. Hopefully we can keep this going until we reach 13 miles in September!

Running the Great North Run for Zoe's Place has given us a real goal and we are giving it our all to do our best for this great charity.  It's one of those places that you don't think much about until you need it's support and it provides unique help for those who need it in the Redcar and Cleveland area.  Here is a bit of info about the charity taken from it's web page:

'Zoë' is the Greek word meaning 'gift of life', and here at Zoë's Place we believe that life is precious no matter how long it lasts.

Zoë's Place is a home from home for babies who have life limiting or terminal illnesses, special and complex needs to varying degrees.

Zoë's Place can take up to six infants at any one time, there is also accommodation and ample facilities for the whole family if these are needed.

We offer palliative and respite care for babies/infants from birth to five years old.  We afford each individual respect and dignity regardless of gender, race, culture, religious beliefs or disability.

They need lots of funds to keep this baby hospice running.  For more detail about the hospice and it's crucial work you can go to :

If you decide to sponsor me then thankyou very much for your support.  Next time I see you I will hopefully be sporting my new Great North Run Medal!

Thanks and Best Wishes
