Hey hey, well ...welcome to my JustGiving page!!! My name is Amz and this September me and some other crazy gals will be running the adidas 5K in Hyde Park (yep, definitely crazy!!)
Anyway, this is not totally crazy because its for a very good cause. We will be raising money money money for International Medical Corps, a well known charity that is dedicated to making a difference for people in the third world. In particular, money will be donated to midwives in places such as Chad and Darfur.
Every minute a woman dies in childbirth.
In areas devastated by conflict or natural disaster, maternal mortality rates are often amongst the highest in the world. In war-torn Somalia, less than 30% of births are attended by skilled health personnel.
From Afghanistan and Iraq to Somalia and Sudan, IMC are tackling high maternal mortality with a Safe Motherhood programme which intervenes in five main ways:
-post/antenatal care
-clean and assisted delivery
-family planning
-basic emergency obstetric care
-training of midwives and traditional birth attendants
