Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
Hepatitis C infects nearly 200 million people worldwide, and 35% of patients affected also have HIV, mainly because both viruses are blood bourne and that the prevalence is much higher in Africa and Asia.
For most symptoms are hidden, yet if untreated about 80% of those infected will see a breakdown of the liver. No vaccine protects against contracting hepatitis C, or helps to treat it after a certain point.
Get tested aims to raise awareness that everyday people like you and me can get the virus from:
- Medical and dentistry equipment
- Contact sports
- Sex
- Piercings
- Tatoos
- Shared razors, toothbrushes, cuticle scissors etc
- Sharing Alcohol and other beverages
I will be making a fool of myself over the next few weeks in an effort to raise cash and awareness by dressing as a sumo on Oxford street, going on a mission dressed in NEON and other things before World Hepatitus day on tuesday the 19th May!
PLEASE SPONSOR ME AND GET YOURSELF TESTED!
