Story

Many will remember that I ran the Great North Run in 2012 on behalf of St.Oswald's Hospice, which provides palliative care to patients who live in the Newcastle area. I suspect many of you will know family members or friends who will have been touched by the hospice movement. St.Oswald's Hospice is an excellent hospice that serves the people of Newcastle.

Last year, I ran as Darth Vader - I hope you will agree that the costume was pretty good and it was much harder to run 13.1 miles wearing a helmet! It was really fun and so I have taken on the challenge of making the costume more difficult to run in! I'm keeping to a Star Wars theme but won't be revealing the costume until I have completed it!

To make it even more fun, I will be competing with my brother this year who will also be running as Darth Vader and I will be running as a stormtrooper! We hope to make it onto the BBC coverage of the Great North Run this year! He will be running for Tommy's.

Tommy's funds research into pregnancy problems and provides information to parents. They exist to save babies' lives by funding research and providing information on the causes and prevention of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth.

As a Christian doctor, I believe that life is precious from conception through to death.

I hope you will agree that these are very worthy causes and are able to give generously again to this causes.
