As some of you may know in 2011 I ran the Virgin London Marathon and it nearly broke me, well I am going to run the streets of That There London again.

This time I am competing in a series of races one of which, The Great South Run, I have recently completed, next up will be a Half Marathon followed by the Mad March 20 Mile cross country race and then the main event the Virgin London Marathon on 21st April 2013.

With Cancer touching most of our lives in one way or another through Family, Close Friends or Colleagues I have chosen to run for Wessex Cancer Trust.

Wessex Cancer Trust promotes awareness and publishes a series of leaflets covering early warning signs, treatment and advice for patients. The Trust also provides counselling and complementary therapy services. Each year many individuals receive financial grants to alleviate hardship resulting from the impact of cancer on patients and their families.

In addition, the Trust has funded major projects including the Piam Brown Children’s Oncology Ward at the Southampton General Hospital, ground breaking research at the University of Southampton and the provision of mobile breast screening units. Improving care for adults and children living with cancer is the biggest item of expenditure for the Trust.

This challenge adds to the many other projects in care, education and research which the Wessex Cancer Trust are continually working on in order to promote relief and support for cancer sufferers across the Wessex region.
