My Grandma had Alzheimers, she first showed signs of the disease when she was 64 years old she deteriorated very quickly which was heartbreaking to see and she died in a nursing home from the disease when she was 69 years old.
My Nanna is currently in a nursing home and she also has Alzheimers, she first showed signs of the disease when she was 72 years old and she has also deteriorated very rapidly and sadly we all know that there is no chance of her getting any better.
My Grandad, her husband is 85 years old and is in the early stages of Alzheimers and needs constant care by family members and the stress and heartbreak it causes to the family is devastating. He still lives in his own home but i fear it wont be long before he has to go into a nursing home too.
If only there was a cure for Alzheimers but sadly there isnt one yet! Thats why i have decided to do something to raise money to fund research into finding a cure. I am doing a charity cycle ride from the Northernmost football club in britain Elgin City F.C to the Southernmost football club in britain Plymouth Argyle F.C 787 miles in 12 days.
