Marathon Des Sables · 4 April 2013

RUHX (formerly The Forever Friends Appeal) is the official NHS charity of the Royal United Hospitals Bath. We’re here to make our place healthier, happier and stronger for the future. And we do that by supporting the extra extraordinary work that leads to exceptional care for everyone.

Story

In 2008 I ran the Marathon Des Sable ('MDS' - 6 marathons in 5 days across the Moroccan Sahara desert carrying ones kit and food) for Marie Curie who cared for my father at their Edinburgh hospice.

Soon after that race I was diagnosed with neck cancer and was operated at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) Bath in Somerset, England.

My 5 years' remission ends in September this year.

So I am running the MDS this year in April to raise funds for the RUH's "Friends Forever" and their "Cancer Care" Appeal.  The hospital treats over 2,000 'new' patients every year and is building a new cancer care centre.  £5 million is needed.

All and any donations will be massively appreciated and will go to helping many many people way into the future.

Kind regards

Andrew
