Thanks for taking the time to visit my 2011 JustGiving page. Inspired by my elderly father’s struggle with paralysis I attempted the 2010 London Marathon in aid of the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA). Unfortunately a strain sustained in training the previous month severely hampered my run but I managed to hobble round in a time of 4 hours 42 minutes and 53 seconds. Encouraged by the terrific response to my sponsorship pleas last year I have decided to give it another go on Sunday 17 April 2011. I really hope you will be able to make a donation....
Training is sometimes an excruciating drain on energy and free time (not to mention incredibly yawn-inducing for most of my colleagues and friends to hear of my tales of pounding the streets at unearthly hours...!).
But all of this inconvenience pales into total insignificance compared to the struggles faced by people suffering the devastating effects of spinal cord injury and their families. The SIA (http://www.spinal.co.uk) carries out some vital and amazing work to improve these people's lives.
I know there are umpteen worthy causes competing for your charitable giving urges such as Comic Relief (isn’t it comical enough for you that I am doing this again…?) and more ghastly earthquakes but please dig deep and donate that extra little chunk of sterling now by clicking the "Donate now" button. Fivers and tenners do the job marvellously and are hugely appreciated, especially a briefcase full of them.
Thank you very much for your support.
Andrew
