On the 1st of April, along with 5 members of my family, we successfully cycled up the famous 21 gruelling hairpin bends, to the summit of Alpe d’Huez from the small town of Bourg d’Oisans, twice in one day.

Alpe d’Huez is one of the most famous of the Tour De France mountain stages, and is regularly host to a stage finish.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpe_d'Huez

I cycled up Alp d'Huez for the charity Children's Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) in Newcastle's Freeman Hospital.  Surprisingly, there are only two childrens heart transplant units in the UK, The Freeman and Great Ormond Street.  Both carry out incredible work.  The Freeman, however, receives very little in the way of charitable support.

CHUF is also my employers (Technology Services Group), nominated charity for 2011.

Thanks

Andrew
