"IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING" read the boards sporadically positioned over the route. Impossible? I thought, for the organisers to design a route that didn't resemble a 42km obstacle course, involving climbing countless steps, crossing numerous bridges, navigating narrow residential footpaths littered with surrounding potholes, and having to stop at road junctions in order for traffic to pass? Alas not! ….A factor contributing to my slightly slower than expected time of 5hrs 30mins! …even the Kenyans suffered though ye doubters!!! On a more positive note though, 'Impossible is Nothing' in that I achieved something I always thought I could never do…and lost 4kgs, despite keeping with tradition and accepting as many free drinks on the way around as I could stomach! …and far more importantly 'Impossible is Nothing' when it comes to research aimed at preventingSudden Infant Death (SID) going into the future. We can all make a difference, and by visiting my site, and making a donation you have! My family and I know all too well the impact of SID, having lost my beautiful Niece Alice at 3 months old. It is far more common an occurrence than many would think, more than one such unimaginable tragedy every day in the UK alone! Thoughts of Alice, and making a difference for others got me through this marathon, and I'd do it again 1,000,000 times over!
Thank you for your kind words of support, and your very generous donations ....Anybody who is still struggling with 'short arm and deep pocket syndrome' will be pleased to know its not too late to donate...i'm leaving the site open for you! We have raised a significant amount, and you have raised my spirit! Triathlon next…watch this space! ;)
THANK YOU!
**************************************************************************************** Welcome to my fundraising page, and Thank You for visiting! On Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 12.00am i will begin torturing my body over a period of several hours, running 42 km as part of the historic Adidas Sundown Marathon, Singapore's first ever night race http://www.sundownmarathon.com/ I will be running in support of the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths, FSID, a charity close to my heart, who rely on donations to work towards promoting infant health, funding research aimed at preventing sudden infant deaths (also known as 'cot death'), and supporting bereaved families when a baby passes away.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: FSID gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please if you can, sponsor me now....every penny counts! Thank You for all your support!
