Story
Hi and thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Some of you will think that I have completely lost the plot (and you may well be quite right!) but I have always wanted to complete the New York Marathon since I finished the London Marathon in 1999. Regard it as unfinished business if you like.
Most of you will know me as a huge sports fan who loves passing on my passion for all sport to both the children I teach and my own kids. I have loved sport since I was a toddler kicking and throwing a ball to my dad and have always been incredibly lucky to be able to compete in teams, from Pilgrims to Hong Kong! I loved the physicality, the comarderie and the sense of achievement. It gave me friends in many places and wonderful memories that I treasure.
I now have an opportunity to give disabled kids a chance to take part in whatever their chosen sporting field might be. I very much hope you will empathise with me and give what you can.
The timing of this run is no accident either. We have all just watched a fantastic Olympics and marvelled at what was achieved. This week sees the turn of the Paralympics and the incredible feats that these disabled sportsmen and women can accomplish. What I want to do is help disabled children live their dream as I did and to try to emulate thier heroes. Whatever you can give will help them to achieve this and I urge you to be as generous as you can.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Get Kids Going! gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you very much for your generousity and I look forward to telling you all about it when I return.
Andy
