Toybox – changing the world for street children. Committed to ending the global injustice of children living and working on the streets. Our vision is of a just world in which no child is forced to live or work on the streets. Your support will transform the lives of vulnerable street children.

Story

Hi and many thanks for looking at my Justgiving page

From 24th May to 6th June 2008 I am planning to cycle around 1,000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats in fourteen days. There are eleven of us cycling to raise funds for Toybox which is dedicated to providing hope for the most disadvantaged children in Latin America www.toybox.org

In my work with Toybox I have met many children who live on the streets. One girl in particular sticks in my mind - Alejandra, perhaps 13 or 14 years old. She had run away from home because she was repeatedly abused by her stepfather, and she ended up living on the streets. The day I met her I was with a street team who gave her some first aid and talked to her, offering help. Her eyes were vacant and she stared into the distance. She no longer trusted anyone but just survived by any means possible. Later we saw Alejandra again, sitting alone in a dark doorway.

The work Toybox does can help Alejandra, and it's for her and children like her. Money raised from this cycle ride will go towards our project in Oruro, where we are funding 'Guardian Angels' to look out for street children.

Go to http://www.toyboxcharity.org.uk/guardian_angels.html for more information about the project.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure. It is also an efficient way to sponsor me: Toybox Charity recieves your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you very much for your support and if you sponsor me the site will send me an email and then I can send you my own thank you.

God bless you

Andy

PS During the trip we plan to keep a 'blog' so please go to the toybox site and look out for this regulare update (we hope!)
