My story

 

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Having run 5 marathons previously and raised over £7,000 for charities supported by Zurich Cares, this year I am raising money specifically for Southmead Hospital Intensive Care Unit, on behalf of JACK STONE for the excellent care that he recently received.

Jack is the 18 year old musician son of some friends of mine, who unfortunately had a severe reaction to a common virus, which turned into pneumonia.  He was in hospital for 6 weeks over Xmas and NY, and such was the servereness, that it was touch and go whether he would make it. 

Jack received the best possible care from the nurses, doctors and other ICU staff during this difficult time, which has put him on the road to recovery. His family were taken care of too and were able to retreat to the family room which for a while became a bit of a refuge. Your sponsorship will enable the ICU team to continue to provide their excellent care and support to future patients and their families. And as Jack and his family found out, you never know when you may need it.

Please therefore sponsor me and the Southmead ICU generously.  (Please note - the North Bristol NHS Trust will get a monthly update from Justgiving from which they can identify people raising money for the specific recipients for which the funding is intended).

The other great news is that Zurich Cares, the charitable side of Zurich Financial Services, will match half of what we raise up to a maximum of £500, so if we acheive target, they will get £2,500 in total, plus gift aid.
