Story
Adidas Womens 5K Challenge, London Hyde Park, 6th September 2009
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
There are MANY reasons why I should'nt be doing this; I drink too much, I smoke, I eat too much and I dont exercise -
But these are also the reasons why I should be doing it, as changing these habits will reduce the risk of a Stroke.
The reason I chose The Stroke Association is because on 7th September 2002, while on a motorbike holiday in Holland my Dad (Big Dave) suffered a stroke. The stroke was caused by a aneurysm in the brain, which had been undetected for years, and on 9th September 2002, aged 54 years Old - he sadly passed away.
Who knows, if The Stroke Association had the abilitys to do more research, purphaps this aneurysm would not have lied undetected
Every year, an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies.
A stroke is the third most common cause of death in the UK. It is also the leading cause of severe disability. More than 250,000 people live with disabilities caused by stroke.
Around three times as many women die from stroke than breast cancer in the UK. However, for every £50 spent on cancer research only £1 is spent on Stroke research!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It could happen to you, or someone you care for.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Stroke Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me - even little amounts will make a difference...
