I know that you might not know me well or might know me from a very long time ago, but I and a number of friends are trying to raise money for the roof of St Michael's Church Camden Town by sleeping on the church roof itself. We're trying to match fund a grant from English Heritage, and between us, we're trying to raise £100,000.
For each £1000 I raise, I plan to spend one night on the roof. Consequently, I'm asking for donations before the event itself.
I know that some people have reservations about giving money to churches... However, since it's my workplace, I can vouch that it's a space that's open for absolutely everybody. We're one of the few buildings in Camden to provide shelter for the homeless all of the way through the year. We serve the whole community - refugees, older people, children, the mentally ill etc. with a variety of projects. However, if we don't replace the roof soon, people are going to get wet...
