Story
I did it ! Ran all the way in 2hrs 40 mins with a picture of Justin on my back - its not too late to sponsor me either - thank you
I was hoping to do a Half Marathon 2 years ago in aid of The Children's Trust but unfortunately 2 days before the event I had a very bad lupus attack and ended up in Hospital for a week. Although i still have lupus (the immune system becomes overactive and produces too many antibodies) I am glad to say it is manageable and my consultant is happy for me to run. So i have decided to try again and on 12th October I will be running 13.1 miles around the Royal Parks of London in aid of The Children's Trust and also running the London Marathon next year ! I have worked for the Trust for 9 years and it really is an incredible charity making a life changing difference to children with disabilities from all over the UK. But we really need to help so many more children but we need to raise more money. At the moment we touching the tip of the iceberg. I was inspired to take up running again after I watched Alfie complete the London Marathon this year - it was so emotional seeing him at mile 5, mile 12 and then run over the finish line. Alfie had a terrible car accident when he was 9 and was told he would never be able to walk again. But luckily one of the specialist at the Hospital in Enfield had heard of The Children's Trust and Alfie spent a year in our rehabilitation programme learning to walk and talk again. If Alfie can run the Marathon and the children at the Trust can overcome their daily challenges surely i can do a half Marathon in 4 hours. I am also running in memory of Justin - a gorgeous little boy who passed away at The Children's Trust earlier this year age 5. Justin's life was dramatically improved whilst at The Trust and feel so privileged to have known him. I will never ever forget Justin's gorgeous smile. His parent are running the London Marathon next year too ! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page and any donation will really make a difference to children from all over the UK. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Children's Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please consider sponsoring me now.
