As most of you know in April 2009 I ran in the Flora London Marathon for the second time and with the generosity of friends, family and local businesses raised over £2200.00 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
This year I will not only be running the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 25 April but as an extra challenge I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon just 4 weeks later on Sunday 23 May. Again I am hoping to raise lots of money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
As many of you know my son Jack has a close friend Jak Crump, its Jak who has inspired me to run again and do more fundraising.
In May 2007 Jak was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, he then had 7 ½ hours of surgery on 15 May in an attempt to remove as much of the tumour as possible. This led to a slow recovery process where he had to learn to eat and walk again. He had 6 weeks of intensive Radio Therapy followed by Chemotherapy up until July 2008. Most of his treatment was carried out at the Oncology Unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Sadly scans last June showed the tumour has started to re grow and Jak has to fight again, Jak and his family have already been through far too much as this is just a small way in which we can all help.
