Yes, it really is true. Anita the couch potato is training to run the London Marathon. Surprised? Not as much as I am! Me, running miles in the cold and wet? When I'd rather be in in front of the telly with a large glass of merlot, a bag of crisps and a bowl of guacamole? Weird!! But once I started running back in June last year, I carried on, and to date (March 30th, 2008) I've run 9 half marathons, and a long run of 20 miles. Only two weeks to go... bnd come April 13th, I'm determined to cross the finish line, even if it is on all fours.
I'm doing all this to raise money for FSID, the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths. Thanks to the type of research funded by FSID, the incidence of cot death in Britain has decreased significantly. But the bald fact remains that each year over 500 British babies die from cot death, which means more than one unimaginable family tragedy every day of the year. So there is still much to do. Research, of course, costs money. And that's where you come in. Thanks so much for visiting this fundraising page. Sponsoring me online is fast, easy, and secure. And if you're a British taxpayer, a further 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Wish me luck! Anita P.S. About the photograph: it doesn't tell the real story. The truth is a lot sweatier!! .
