Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Three weeks after this photo was taken on our wedding day my father passed away after losing his battle with oesophageal cancer. This was in January of last year and not a day goes past that I don't think of him and miss him. He was just 52 and left us far too soon. I know that it was our wedding day that kept him going. He was so certain that he would be there to walk me down the aisle despite being in great pain and discomfort.
Now I know that I am a big fan of running and but the two events that I am going to tell you about will not be a walk in the park for me!
Firstly on 5th June I along with 5 wonderful ladies from Haywards Heath Harriers are running in a 100 mile relay along the South Downs. For any of you have not seen the South Downs they are not what you would descibe as flat! I am going to be running a total of 1550m uphill. We each have 3 legs of the relay passing a baton over between each stage and getting transported to our next point via minibus. Having recently looked at my maps I have also got to learn my route as there are no signposts for us to follow - it's going to be interesting!!
Secondly on the 19th September I am running the Great North Run a half marathon up in Newcastle. Hopefully this will be the start of my training for a marathon next year! But let's just wait and see .......
I am running for Macmillan Cancer Support. It is my chance to give something back to them. It is so sad that we have got to the point where everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and so many people are reliant on charities such as Macmillan to give them support, advice and help in such horrible times.
I know that my Dad will be watching over me and getting me through. I would be so grateful for any money you could donate to this very worthy cause. However little - each penny counts and will go a long way in helping other families who are going through these terrible times.
Many thanks for all your support.
