Story
Hello there again everyone,
I have nominated myself for the Asics 10K London Run 2009!! (I Know I'm a Glutton for Punishment!). This year I have decided to the run in fancydress! as THE CAT IN THE HAT.
As I'm sure your aware we lost our beautiful baby Girl Annabelle last year so I'm even more determined to give it my all!.
I know we are fighting the dreaded CREDIT CRUNCH!!! but please give as much as you can its for a worthwile cause!!!
Some information about SMA.
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a condition that affects the nerves in an area of the spinal cord called the anterior horn. These nerve cells become damaged, breaking the link between the brain and the muscles. As a result, the muscles can't be used and become wasted or atrophied. SMA is the biggest genetic killer of infants under 2. Annabelle had type one sma which is the most severe form with 80% of babies with not reaching their first birthday.
The Jennifer Trust is the only national charity in the UK dedicated both to supporting people affected by SMA, and investing in essential research into causes, treatments and eventually a cure for the condition.
1 in 40 people carry the sma gene. Its only when 2 carriers conceive that there is then a 25% chance of each pregnancy being affected, therefore any children we may have in the future have a 25% chance of having sma.
