Hi All,
In Jan09 I will be flying off to Kenya for the year to volunteer at the WEMA Centre.
The centre was built in response to the plight of young street girls in Mombasa. These girls have been subjected to violence, harassment, sexual abuse and disease. And suffer serious physical and psychological wounds as a result.
The centre provides these young orphans with an education, health services, food and clothing. And more importantly provides them with the love and attention they deserve with the hope of a better future.
- The WEMA Centre provides a home for 126 former street girls.
- The Street outreach programme engages over 500 street children in . Children are offered healthcare, HIV/AIDS support, sanitation and recreation.
- The WEMA Sanatorium provides the medical care for both residential and community children. The facility benefits over 300 hundred children.
- WEMA provides both formal and non formal education to hundreds of children.
So here I am asking for your help to raise the funds to support my cause. Any donations no matter how great or small are all hugely apppreciated!
Also on the the 27th of September I am holding a Charity Masquerade ball in honour of the centre. All money raised will be going towards the cause! So get the date in your diary and get your glad rags aired because we are going to PARTY!!!
Thanks in advance for your support! And helping me to make a difference!
I promise to keep you up to date - and will be sending you pictures and stories once I am in Kenya.
Thanks once again
Anna. xxx
