I'm not entirely sure what happened to my sanity recently but when asked if I would participate in a loop-the-loop in a glider on April 25th 2009 (yes, one of those little planes with no engine!) to raise money for Hope and Aid Direct, I said yes without hesitation!! Now here I am, just over a month away and wondering what I have let myself in for!!
Seriously though, when I heard the stories and saw the photographs from a friend who joined a Hope Aid convoy to Kosovo last year I couldn't help to be moved by the horrendous conditions people out there are still having to endure. The war may be long over and, in the world media perhaps, long-forgotten, but families there remain living in conditions that for most of us are unimaginable and a world away from our own comfortable and sheltered lives.
I would love to be able to help raise some funds to contribute towards the costs for the 2009 convoy (more details of just what this involves below!) and would be hugely grateful for your support however great or small!

Hope and Aid Direct Convoy Information:
In October 2008 12 lorries travelled a round trip of 3976 miles to deliver 78 tons of aid which, along with items bought in country, enabled the team to deliver aid and to deliver a "school in a box" to eight schools. This year Hope and Aid Direct plan to send another convoy to Kosovo, delivering aid, support and giving friendship to those who need it, irrespective of what part of Kosovo they are from, their ethnicity or their religion.
The aid delivered is so desperately needed just to give a basic amount of food, clothing and support for the cold winter months ahead. We are generously supported in many ways in this country, but buying food supplies and transporting and delivering the donated aid takes not just volunteers, but costs time and money. It costs £4000 to send a truck to Kosovo so every little bit of money donated to this cause will be a huge help!!
