About our Adventure:

Deanna and Colleen are two old friends, separated now for years by the distance of oceans and continents. Yet they have remained connected through mutual aspirations to see the world and a shared spirit of adventure. The two will meet again, not in the home country of Canada, but on the trekking trails of Nepal.

The girls will tackle the Annapurna Circuit for three to four weeks in December 2010 - January 2011. Dee will be on summer break from university in Perth, Australia, and Colleen will have just completed a one-year contract teaching English in Chuncheon, South Korea.

Being two women afforded the luxury of visiting a beautiful country and traveling through its varied natural environments, Dee and Colleen would like to give back by helping women and girls in the region who are less fortunate than themselves. They are asking for your help!

About the charity - Asha Nepal:

Asha Nepal is a UK-registered charity working for the rights of women and girls in Nepal. Hundreds of thousands of women and children in Nepal suffer daily from extreme human rights abuses - sex trafficking, sexual and physical abuse, child labour, and discrimination due to gender, caste, and HIV/AIDS. They are fighting for women's social statuses to be raised, to help victims break free from this vicious, violent circle.

Working with Nepali partner organisations, Asha Nepal offers a safe haven, psycho-social support, healthcare, legal support, education, and training, to help women and girls to become self-sufficient and fully re-integrate into society. The charity aims to give them the hope, the opportunities, and the independence to create a new world for themselves.
