On October 30th 2009, I flew out to Nepal to embark on the Annapurna Base Camp trek in aid of the Himalayan Cultural Conservation.
This was a classic 9 day Himalayan trekking route that took me to a height of 4130 metres. I stayed in traditional tea houses, my destination was Nepal's Annapurna Base Camp (also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary).
I successfully completed the trek; it was tough but extremely beautiful and rewarding! I can't wait to visit Nepal again!!!
The Challenge was to raise valuable funds for Himalayan Cultural Conservation (Hi-Cap UK - registered charity no. 1115378). This is a worthy cause devoted to the Orphans and families of the Mustang area of the Himalayas. Their hopes and plans are to improve their lives by providing, to as many of them as possible, shelter, food, improved health and basic education, eventually training them to earn a basic living to help others in the area, at the same time retaining their culture.
It would be a tremendous help if you would sponsor me. I can reassure you that none of your donation goes to the cost of the trip; unlike some organised overseas charity expeditions, this isn't a way of paying for a holiday with a small percentage going to charity, Hi-Cap UK will be the only ones benefiting from your generosity! So please help the orphans and families of Nepal.
