Update on progress: 1st day, Saturday 11th, (14 miles), nice warm day, no rain! 2nd day (15miles), glad it was cooler, damp start (Scotch mist), brighter later. 3rd day (13 miles) now reached top of Loch Lomond. Muggy then showers. 4th day: (12 miles to Tyndrum) - wet morning, brighter later. My gear kept me dry, others got wet, then sore, legs. 5th day: only 7 miles, a half-day really, afternoon off on trip to Oban. Weather fine. 6th day (Thurs): 12 miles in dry cooler weather. Friday: 8 miles up Devil's Staircase, overcast with some drizzle. Saturday: finished! (5pm) after a long damp slog, all completed safely bar minor bruises, bites, etc. John says he's run out of linen baskets for the washing at home, so it's back to domesticity...Enjoyed great scenery and a lovely break from routine. Many thanks to all supporters.

In July, over 8 days, I am walking The West Highland Way, accompanying a group of teenagers (perhaps I should have been sponsored per survivor...) from our church children's groups. It's a challenge for me, and a challenge for them! Since retiring to Scotland, I've taken up walking, but this walk is in a new area for me, and I've not done such a series of daily walks. I usually walk twice a week with a local group but recently have also been walking with our church group as well at the weekends ( doing 10 to 14 mile walks ) to get ready for the off on the 11th. As a finale we walked the Lairig Ghru, a distance of 22 miles, a spectacular glen which runs from Aviemore to Braemar. It also includes a wonderful boulder field over which you need to scramble!
The Way links Milngavie to Fort William – a distance of 152km (95 miles) - from the outskirts of Scotland’s largest city to the foot of its highest mountain, Ben Nevis. ( I am saving that for later!)
As I am a local coordinator for Adoption UK, I am fundraising for Adoption UK in Scotland. The money I raise will help with family days etc which our members can all enjoy.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Adoption UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
