Thanks for visiting my fundraising page! I did it! ( just under 6 hours!). What a day!

I have benefitted directly from research funded by Diabetes UK in the last year. It was confirmed only last week that I have a fairly rare sort of non-insulin dependent diabetes known as "Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young" (MODY) which started when I was 17, but it was unknown at that time and I was treated with insulin, then just diet, then tablets. The research has shown exactly what the best form of treatment should be and at last I know why my diabetes didn't "fit the mold" all these years.
If the Diabetes UK local group had not been restarted last year I'd still be in the dark - through meeting with other diabetics I found out there was an "Xpert" course for diabetics (referral via my GP Diabetes Nurse), and at the second meeting of the Xpert course the Diabetes Nurse Specialist on the course said she suspected MODY - and she was right (thanks Sheree!). With diabetes, ignorance is certainlhy not "bliss" so please help me raise money for the Diabetes UK Research Fund!
