We raise funds for research that will lead to the successful treatment and eventual elimination of kidney disease. The lives of many people are seriously affected by kidney disease. Kidney failure is an extremely debilitating illness. Research is the only answer to find a prevention or a cure.

Story

Update:  We did it!  It was a great evening - the pub was heaving with people who had come to watch us burn but no-one did - not even one blister among all those brave people!  I'm still not sleeping properly - the adrenalin buzz getting over that fear is just incredible!

It's not too late to sponsor!  Please keep it coming and thank you.  You can get more information on the Institute at www.swtirr.org.uk and more on the Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org.uk

Three years ago a work colleague and I came up with a brilliant idea to raise money for the very deserving South West Thames Kidney Fund.  "We'll get people to walk on fire", we said, having absolutely no intention of doing it ourselves.  No-one in their right mind walks on hot coals burning at 1200 degrees farenheit!  However, staying safe proved to be impossible and in November 2003 we walked the hot walk with 34 other lunatics and raised £10,000 for renal research!

Three years later, my feet have recovered, and they will be facing fire again, with about 50 other walkers, on Wednesday 25th October 2006 at the Angel Pub, Sutton, Surrey.  Please reward our incredible bravery and fortitude with a donation to the Kidney Fund!  The great thing about Justgiving is that anyone, anywhere in the world can sponsor in any currency, and the donation will be sent directly to the Kidney Fund.

Sefton Bullivant, landlord of the Angel Pub is doing the walk, and he and his business partner, Sharon are throwing a fundraising BBQ on the night.  In addition, we have Neil Long, Breakfast Show presenter on 107.8 Radio Jackie, walking the walk and then hosting a party at the pub afterwards.  With your help, this promises to be a very very enjoyable and successful fundraising night!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: South West Thames Kidney Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor now!

Thank you very very much for your support and I shall update this page after the event with reports on the extent of injuries received - if any!
