Trek The Great Wall · 12 April 2008

At Compton Care we believe life with a complex and incurable illness doesn't have to be limiting. We work with patients to inspire, support and encourage them to take charge of their lives - because being alive isn't the same as feeling alive.

Story

Hi everyone

I HAVE MADE IT - it was the most fantastic experience in every way.  The Wall itself, the people on the walk and the people of China.  Such a wonderful opportunity - so glad I took the decision to go this year.

Thank you to all of you for your support.

Welcome to my justgiving site.  This site is easy to use and secure.

For those of you who don't know here is why I am raising money for Compton Hospice and treking the Great Wall of China.

I would like to do something to support the work of the Hospice, so that more families can benefit from the gift of support that we have had.  Words fail me to express just how much this support meant to my mum, dad and our family.

If everybody who reads this donates I will reach my target of £1500. It's a modest target and I'd be pleased to raise it for such a worthy cause. Of course, I'll be meeting all my own expenses, including blister plasters, more knee surgery, sherpa support, hopefully missing out the mountain rescue and safely returning home with loads of photos!!! Please donate generously.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control I am not able to participate in the China trek this year.  I have broken my metatarsal bone and my father is seriously ill.  I will of course continue to fund raise for Compton Hospice, as once again their continued help, now with my father, is invaluable.  I hope to trek the Great Wall next October.

It has taken me quite some time to get the courage together and sign up for this October Walk.  I do not know anyone else on the walk but I am sure I will make new friends.  Sadly my Dad died in October 2008 and I will do this walk in his memory.  I will continue to raise funds for Compton as they continue to support my mum and me.  Just worried about the training now !!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Compton Hospice Ltd will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me.

Many thanks for your support.

Annette
