Story

Dear Friends and Family,

On Friday 15th Febraury I will be 70 and have decided to celebrate my birthday by swimming 70 lengths at my local Andratx Municipal (25 meter) pool.  I would like to raise money for the Jemima Sellicks Fellowship Fund.

Jemima is the grand-daughter of our dear friends Mike and Trish Wilford and she has been battling with "Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia" for some time now.  The charity "Hope Against Cancer" are funding a Fellowship to continue the research currently underway into this particular type of Leukaemia in Jemima's name in tandem with the Medical Research Council (you may have read the recent news about the break through in finding the stem cell responsible for ALL).  This is the charity fund which I would like to support with the donations received for my swim event.

Jemima is a very brave girl (as are all the other children in a similar situation) so I would ask you to read her story on her 'blog page' which is up-dated every few days.  This page follows her progress in and out of hospital and I show the detail below:

So please make the biggest donation you can before the deadline of 15th March 2008.  I understand that a few of our friends prefer not to use the internet for their donations so I will be back in Mallorca on Monday 28th January if you would like to contact me directly.

If anyone is in the vicinity of the Andratx Pool on the day of the event, 15th February at about 9.00 am, they can see me in action.

So please, be generous on this occasion.

Many thanks

Ann Gilding

We have funded over 100 research projects tackling many forms of cancer. In 2012 we opened a dedicated clinical trials centre at Leicester Royal Infirmary to offer patients access to new medicines and therapies. We also fund two nurses who add to the care and support trials patients receive.
