We are radically advancing research to achieve a life free from epilepsy

Story

The rumours are true I am following in the footsteps of the Brooks brothers and I'm doing a triathlon!  I decided to pick one with the prettiest scenery (& a good tea shop) so that during my 750m swim, 19.8km bike, 5.7km run... I won't get too bored and neither will my supporters!

I just want to say this is a big step for me not only as a challenge, but to explain what has caused me so much hassle and the reason I've chosen this charity.  I did debate whether I really wanted everyone to know about this as there is often a stigma attached, but I really want to give back to this charity.

Last April I was diagnosed with epilepsy which I'd been suffering unknowingly for years. It was the cause behind my 'funny turns' and had always left me constantly worried, scared, anxious and feeling very low.  Luckily in 2012 when I became poorly I was referred to a neurologist, I went for a number of tests but was finally told I had Complex Partial Seizures, I then lost my driving licence and my life completely changed...

I hate asking people to donate money for my challenges so usually I don't, but this is a huge fitness challenge and after my personal experience with epilepsy I really want to help aid the research into it.

I'll be blogging about my triathlon training over the winter, so by all means pop along and see how I'm getting on.

Thanks for reading :o)
