In memory of Colette Lynch

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

Yesterday I completed the Edinburgh Marathon in gruelling heat conditions in a time of 4:36:07 averaging 10 min 25 seconds per mile. It was a challenge, physically and psychologically. Even more emotional for me given I was running in memory of my cousin Colette who didn't make it past her 24th birthday. I'm raising money for other victims of domestic violence on behalf of Refuge.
Did you know two women every week are murdered by their partner/ex-boyfriend? Refuge provide support and safe housing for women and their children escaping this abuse. Another horrifying statistic, is that one woman in four experience domestic violence at some point in their life.
