Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
You will see that I have hit my fundraising target but donations are still welcome and used to fund projects where necessary.
There are 100 million homeless people in the world.
In Southern Africa, half of all deaths a year are Aids-related. By 2025, the best forecast for life expectancy would be 59 years.
There will be two million Aids orphans in South Africa by 2010 and there is no social welfare system in place to deal with it!
Habitat for Humanity has helped build 260,000 homes in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Central Asia, Latin America, Northern Ireland and Great Britain. Habitat for Humanity is one of the few international charities entirely dedicated to long-term reconstruction and regeneration. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of supporters and partners, the charity has been able to reconstruct more homes in the Asian Tsunami region than any other Non Government Organisation.
I’ll be heading to Umgababa, a village just south of Durban on the southeastern coast of Africa on 15 November for a week as part of a team of 20 selected as International Volunteers to help build houses for low-income earners and vulnerable groups (particularly Aids orphans, disabled people and those whose homes were destroyed by floods). Your sponsorship can help this initiative. Please sponsor Habitat for Humanity through my page – no matter how big or small your donation. Just £2 can buy a brick or part of a doorframe, and help me make a large difference in someone’s life.
By July 2009 Habitat for Humanity hopes to have built 96 houses in the area and at the end of the project there are plans to have built 560 homes.
I’ll be donning a hard-hat and steel-cap boots for a week and helping to build some one a home. It costs approximately £5,500 to build a single basic 3-roomed house and part of my commitment in the project of helping to build a house, is to raise £1,000 for Habitat for Humanity. This money will go towards buying materials and equipment for this project and others. Please help to make this possible by sponsoring me today. Using this site is safe and secure.
Thank you / Dankie / Enkosi / Ngiyabonga,
