I have recently returned from Peru - having trekked for 6 days to Machu Picchu in memory of my wonderful father who died of pancreatic cancer and to raise money for the fantastic charity, The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

It was a tough few days… often breathless and with headache – and climbing to altitudes of 4500 metres above sea level.  Sadly some of the group were really sick from the altitude so making it to the end was a huge achievement for all who took part.  At night we camped and the weather dropped to 9 below zero so it was freezing.  When we awoke before 5 to start the next days trekking there was often ice on our tents! 

But...no buts really... the scenery was breath taking, the other people on the trek were amazing and the whole experience was one of the best of my life.  Something I will remember forever and something my father would have been extremely proud of me for achieving.  I loved every minute of it.

I know that I have completed the challenge now, but I am still very keen to raise as much money as possible for my charity.  In the UK, pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers.  Only 3% of those diagnosed survive 5 years of more.  Funding for more research is desperately needed so if you would like to donate something to this much needed cause that would be wonderful.  I paid for the entire trip myself so every penny donated will go directly to the charity.
