I have entered the Southern Sprotive (see www.southernsportive.com ) to raise money for Prostate Cancer research. It is not a charity ride as such, but a timed event, a race except against oneself.

It is on September 14, and starts / ends in Petersfield. It is 110 km / 68 miles on roads crossing and re-crossing the South Downs several times. The hills may not be like Alpe d'Huez, but there are several long and steep climbs (over 4000 feet in total),  and about 4 1/2 to 5 hrs of riding., for me!   The photo is of me riding up Alpe d'Huez in 2000, so a bit older and less fit now.
