We’re both running the British 10k London Run on 12 July and it would be great if you would sponsor us in aid of the Ménière’s Society – a registered charity supporting people with Ménière’s disease and other vestibular disorders causing dizziness and imbalance.
Ménière’s disease is a long term progressive condition with symptoms of acute attacks of vertigo (severe dizziness), fluctuating tinnitus, increasing deafness and a feeling of pressure in the ear. There is currently no known cure.
Balance disorders like this are difficult to diagnose and treat. They are distressing and handicapping and patients are often told they must learn to live with their symptoms but are given little or no help to do so. Dizziness can lead to reduced quality of life, anxiety, unsteadiness and vulnerability to falling. Chronic dizziness is common and is thought to affect one in 10 working age adults and one in five older people.
The Ménière’s Society offers support and information to those with Ménière’s disease/ vestibular conditions, their families and carers. The Society also raises awareness of the symptoms and, where funds allow, supports vital research.
The Ménière’s Society is funded purely by subscriptions and donations as they receive no Government funding. By sponsoring us your donation will assist them in their work. If you’re a UK tax payer, you can also Gift Aid your donation, which will allow the Ménière’s Society to claim an additional 28% on your donation.
Many thanks for your support. Wish us luck!
